How Target Center Moved from Paper-Based Incident Reporting to Connected Venue Operations with Raven Controls

Target Center

Target Center adopted Raven Controls to move beyond pen-and-paper incident reporting and create a more centralised approach to venue operations.

Raven now supports incident reporting across events, mass communications and guest engagement through Raven Eye, helping the team communicate and respond in real time while giving supervisors greater visibility across the building.

The challenge

Before Raven, many incidents at Target Center were documented using pen and paper.

While the process worked, it created gaps between response, documentation and follow-up. Information was not always immediately accessible, reporting could vary between team members and records could be delayed, misplaced or underreported.

As the operation continued to grow, Target Center needed a centralised platform that could improve accountability, standardise documentation and help teams communicate more effectively.

The requirement wasn't simply to replace paper with a digital version of the same process. The venue needed something capable of developing alongside its operation.

Why Raven

One of the biggest advantages for Target Center has been Raven's flexibility.

Rather than forcing the venue into a predefined workflow, Raven has allowed the team to develop processes around the way Target Center actually operates.

For David Torres, Director of Security at Target Center, that flexibility means venues don't need to implement everything at once.

“You don't have to use everything on day one. Start with what solves your biggest challenge, build from there, and before long you'll wonder how you operated without it.”

That approach has allowed Target Center to start with its immediate reporting requirements before gradually expanding Raven into other areas of the operation.

Implementation and partnership

The relationship with the Raven team has also been an important part of that progression.

Rather than treating implementation as simply deploying software, Raven has worked with Target Center to understand its operation and develop solutions around the venue's requirements.

“What separates Raven isn't just the software, it's the people behind it. Their team has been an outstanding partner, taking the time to understand our operation, helping us build solutions that fit our needs, and continually looking for ways to improve the platform.”

That ongoing relationship has allowed Target Center to continue identifying processes that can be brought into Raven as its use of the platform develops.

Raven in action

Today, Raven has become a core part of Target Center's daily operation.

The venue uses the platform for incident reporting across events, mass communications and guest engagement through Raven Eye. Target Center is also in the process of migrating its Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and delivery tracking into Raven to further centralise its operations.

Information can be captured and shared in real time, helping the right people receive operational information faster while giving supervisors better visibility of what is happening throughout the building.

Giving guests a direct route to the team

Raven Eye has added another layer to that operational picture.

Guests can communicate directly with the Target Center team during events and on non-event days, giving the venue another source of real-time information from around the building.

That direct line of communication has helped the team resolve concerns more quickly while improving the overall guest experience.

The impact

The biggest change for Target Center has been the ability to move from simply documenting incidents to actively managing operations through a single platform.

Information reaches the right people faster, incident documentation is more consistent and supervisors have greater visibility across the building.

At the same time, Raven's role continues to expand beyond the original incident-reporting requirement as more operational processes are brought into the platform.

“Raven isn't a one-size-fits-all product—it's a platform that grows alongside your operation.”

A platform that can keep evolving

Target Center's experience demonstrates how a platform introduced to solve one operational challenge can develop as teams identify new opportunities to improve the way they work.

For Target Center, that journey started with incident reporting. It now encompasses communications, guest engagement and a growing range of daily operational processes.

And David believes there is considerably more potential in how the platform can be used.

“I've found that Raven is only limited by the imagination of the people using it. If you have a process you want to improve, there's a good chance Raven can support it, or their team will work with you to build it.”
