The Role

We're looking for an experienced and qualified accountant to serve as our Financial Controller. This is a critical role reporting directly to the C-Suite and offers an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Finance Director to develop their career in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for someone who has experienced fast company growth and the challenges that come with it.

You'll be responsible for all financial aspects of the Group company, including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and compliance. This is a hands- on role where you'll be instrumental in building out our finance operations and providing strategic insights to guide our growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting:
    Manage all aspects of the accounting cycle, including the monthly and annual close processes. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow). Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    Lead the company's financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities. Develop and manage the annual budget and rolling forecasts. Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to department heads.

  • SaaS Metrics & Analysis:
    Track and analyse key SaaS metrics such as Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), and Retention Rate.

  • Cash Flow Management:
    Oversee daily cash management and liquidity planning.  Optimise working capital and ensure sufficient funds are available for operations and strategic initiatives.

  • Compliance:
    Work with our external advisor and Fractional CFO to maintain adequate record-keeping and ensure compliance with all relevant HMRC requirements. Monitor financial risks, tax compliance and regulatory changes across subsidiaries.

  • Systems & Processes:
    Develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain financial systems and controls to support the company's growth.  Develop and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Leadership & Management:  
    Manage and mentor one member of staff and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to provide financial guidance and support decision-making. Build finance capabilities across growing subsidiaries.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant:
    You must be a qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).

  • Experience:
    A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a similar role.

  • SaaS Experience:
    Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in a SaaS, technology and / or scale-up company.  A solid understanding of SaaS business models and key metrics (preferred)

  • Technical Skills:
    Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis. Experience with cloud-based accounting software, Xero (preferred)

  • Data Room Experience:
    You will have a lead responsibility for managing the Data Room, and previous similar experience is required.

  • Soft Skills:
    Excellent communication and presentation skills.  Someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
